Expanding the museum digitally step by step

If there ever was a reason to celebrate, it is this one: Many museums are finally opening their doors again. For sure, we at tuomi are very happy for the museums and visitors!

A recent survey of participants at the #Maitagung2021 showed that over 70% of the participating museums want to further expand their digital presence after the Corona crisis. These are very encouraging figures. And we know that (nearly) everything is possible.

Especially smaller museums usually don’t know where to start and how to proceed. In the meantime, there are great advisory and coaching initiatives for this, such as the KompassDigitale Kultur (Compass Digital Culture) in Baden-Württemberg.

Sustainable despite budget restrictions

One of the questions we are always faced with is how to invest the usually limited budget in a sustainable way. tuomi has a great solution to offer: Our museum system “Dorengo” allows you to start with one part and continuously add parts if your budget allows it.

Will there be a time when museums have to close as in the past Corona months? Prepare yourself:

  • Offer exciting insights into your exhibitions on your website. With Dorengo you can tell multimedia stories wherever you want.
  • Put together an NFC travelling museum. High-quality tactile objects and exciting multi-media content will excite your visitors at their home.
  • Or include the urban space, e.g. the surroundings of the museum with a GPS tour. You could also install digitally enhanced information boards or posters for example on monuments or shop windows of closed shops.
  • Send postcards or flyers that combine analogue and digital information. The advantage: The digital content is always up to date and allows you to add multimedia elements.

A great addition

The Dorengo museum system is also useful for your in-person visitors. Expand offer at any time and combine multiple ideas with each other.

  • For example, you start with a multimedia guide for lending devices. Then, you want to add a web app (Bring Your Own Devices, BYOD) as son as you have implemented a Wi-Fi infrastructure.
  • Do you want to gradually add media stations, perhaps even equip them with tactile objects?
  • The media guide should synchronize with the media stations?
  • A digital system for guided tours would also be great?

All these offers will of course be barrier-free, multilingual and expandable at any time. Individual design and a variety of content and functions are included.

You implement all of this with Dorengo – and much more. Start small, choose the solution you need and create a sustainable starting point for further expansion of you digital offerings in and outside the museum.

Do you want to know more what “Dorengo” and tuomi can do for you? We look forward to hearing from you!
